Goodman Glass Company has been a leader in the field of security glazing. For many years we have installed Bullet Resistant glass in banks, convienence stores, motels, check cashing facilities, police stations or any other warranted location... The United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines rely on Goodman to keep there personnel safe from gunfire in their security facilities.

Bullet "proof" glass is particularly resistant to being penetrated when struck by bullets of different caliber. Manufacturing glass of usable thicknesses capable of fully stopping most bullets cannot currently be done, the industry generally refers to it as bullet-resistant glass instead. The level of security as specified by the customer, will dictates the makeup and thickness of each glass panel. Bullet-resistant glass is usually constructed using a strong but transparent material such as polycarbonate (Lexan) and/or by using layers of different thickness glass laminated together. The end result is a material with an appearance and light-transmitting behavior of standard glass but offers varying degrees of protection.

Blast Resistant

Since the horrible day of attacks by terrorist on our country at places like Oklahoma and New York City’s Twin Towers on 9-11-01, the glass and storefront business has not been the same. The industry has designed, tested and installed systems to help minimize the effects of bomb blasts and other severe conditions. Goodman Glass has installed Blast resistant storefront systems for the Army and the Air Force. The Governments has typically specified these systems in locations were large numbers of people will congregate or possible targets such as cafeterias, hospitals, etc.

Similar to the different levels of protection offered for bullet resistant glass, entire storefront windows and doors systems can be designed for protection from different size blasts. The systems have been designed to withstand explosions from different pressure levels of 1 – 6 pounds per square inch (psi). Simply looking at a blast resistant storefront, one can hardly tell it is different. The difference is all internal, utilizing steel inserts in the aluminum extrusions, aggressive fasting techniques, reinforce joints and corners details and much thicker Insulated Glass units.

Not all glass companies have the ability, experience and training necessary to fabricate and install these types of storefront to protect our citizens.
